THE FIRST VISIT

What will happen at my first visit to the dentist?

Before your appointment, the Ragghianti Cinquini Dental Practice team will ask you to complete a medical history questionnaire which will help us as a dentist understand your medical history before starting any dental treatment. You can download a medical history questionnaire from this page, fill it out at home and take it with you to your first visit, or you will be asked to arrive 10 minutes before the appointment to complete the questionnaire at reception.

At the appropriate time, the dental assistant will call your name and lead you from the waiting room to the dental room. The dentist and dental assistant will introduce themselves and ask if you have any specific concerns or problems with your teeth, gums, or the appearance of your smile.

We will evaluate the current condition of your teeth and gums. We may also ask for digital dental x-rays of your teeth and gums to be taken during your check-up; a dental x-ray is the only accurate way the dentist can "see" between your teeth and under your fillings. Remember that if you have recent x-rays of your teeth, you can bring them with you to your first visit.

Types of x-rays you may need.

There are two types of radiological investigations that we could suggest:

  • Small dental x-ray – for single teeth
  • OPT – a complete x-ray of the mouth (orthopantomography)

Our doctors will also be able to offer you to carry out a dental cleaning with specialized doctors, dental hygienists, to remove tartar accumulations. A professionally applied fluoride application may also be offered to aid in the reduction of dental decay and decrease tooth sensitivity.

At the end of your check-up, we will discuss the condition of your teeth and gums, outlining any suggested treatment options. You will be given all the information you need to make a decision whether treatment is necessary. Before any future appointments or start of labor, we will provide you with a personalized plan that describes your treatment options, necessary appointments, and fees and costs.

At the end of the first visit, the dental assistant will take you back to the front desk for payment and booking further appointments. However, if it is not necessary to schedule further checks, it is possible to schedule an appointment for the next check-up. If you have questions about your first appointment, contact our Dental Practice.
